Essential CPAP Travel Checklist

Traveling with a CPAP machine requires a little extra preparation to ensure restful sleep wherever you go. Use this checklist to make sure you have everything you need for a safe, comfortable and stress-free trip with your CPAP equipment.

1. Machine, Mask & Accessories

CPAP / BiPAP machine, clean and working
CPAP mask with headgear and all parts
Power supply / AC adapter
Plug adapters or converters
Extra cushions, pillows or mask seals
CPAP tubing, plus spare if possible
Filters, with at least one spare
Humidifier chamber, empty before packing

2. Travel Documentation

Copy of CPAP prescription, optional in most cases
Manufacturer’s manual or user guide
Tip: Documentation is not always required, but it can be useful when travelling internationally or if airport staff ask about your equipment.

3. For the Flight

Notify the airline ahead if you plan to use CPAP on board
Carry your CPAP machine in cabin luggage
Use a medical equipment tag for your CPAP bag
Never check your CPAP machine in hold luggage

4. Packing Tips

Clean and dry all equipment before packing
Use a hard case or padded bag for protection
Pack all essential parts in your carry-on
Keep small parts together in a separate pouch

5. At Your Destination

Check voltage compatibility before plugging in
Set up your CPAP immediately to ensure everything works
Locate distilled water if you use humidification
Choose a safe place for nightly use and daytime storage
